About
Hello, my name is Daniil Danzig. I am a Russo-Canadian artist living in the Auvergne region of France. Nourki is a project I have been nurturing since 2015.
Through Nourki, I see myself as part of a long lineage of artists, makers, and thinkers who have sought to express the wonder, beauty, and complexity of the world around us.
From our earliest days as humans, nature has inspired awe and curiosity. Some of the oldest traces of human presence on Earth are cave paintings, early artistic expressions shaped by this deep relationship with the natural world. Light played an essential role in these works. By using the flicker of fire, early artists brought movement and depth
to their images, giving them a sense of life and presence.
My own path has been shaped by years of exploration and curiosity. I spent a long time moving through the world without a fixed direction, guided instead by a desire to observe, feel, and learn. Sounds, textures, landscapes, and relationships all became teachers. Nature was a constant companion, whether paddling across lakes and rivers in Ontario, walking along remote coastlines, or hiking through mountain landscapes. It feels natural that I now live in a place surrounded by ancient volcanoes, quiet rivers, and abundant forests.
Nourki emerged during a time of great transition in my life, as I settled into a new country and a new chapter. The creative impulse arrived suddenly and powerfully, bringing with it a sense of focus and purpose I had never experienced before. What began as an inner spark grew into a clear and steady practice, one that continues to guide my work today.
Bringing Nourki to life has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences
of my life. With the support of my family and friends, this project has grown into something I am proud to share.
Each lamp is made by hand, with care and intention. My hope is that these pieces bring warmth, calm, and a sense of harmony into your living spaces.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
How I Nourki
As a conscious citizen of this planet, I make every effort to source all my materials ethically, both from a sustainable and ecological point of view. To make high quality items, one must use high quality inputs. As such, I source materials from within the EU, as I believe doing so makes the overall economy stronger and more resilient as well.
None of my products are produced in a factory. I chose to do things this way as it allows me to do small runs of custom objects, without having to order 1000s of parts from half way around the world, giving me much greater creative flexibility. I quality control each piece before it leaves my studio and do not send anything to my clients that does not meet my high personal standards. My customers are important to me, and I work together with them to resolve any issues that may arise.
